The original RSC Class 31 pack 01 was renamed by RSC/DTG to "BR Class 31 Freight" when the later pack was introduced and I am sorry that this was not clear to you. The "RSC Class 31 Pack" is currently (15/07/19) available from the store at 60% off, Price £2.39. Installing this pack is the only solution I can suggest. On test I found that all of the locos will produce exhaust smoke if they are part of a driven or AI consist, but they will not produce exhaust when placed on track but not in a driven or AI consist. I also tested the RSC default locos and found that they behaved in the same way. If you have class 31s from pack01 which produce exhaust when not in a consist I assume that they have been modified. I hope that this helps. However, for Daft Wallys like me, it might be advisable not to delete the files being replaced but to rename them - in case they're needed later. I do it by adding "Orig_" to the front of the filename.
